Prof. Pieraccini was very well prepared and lucid in her presentation.
I do not normally like theater, but I really enjoyed James Carpenter and Julian Lopez-Morillas.
It was informative and enjoyable for someone who knows very little about the Roman Republic. Such a program is highly useful; a “quick course”.
I never really understood what the Roman Republic was until this weekend! Thank you for a delightful educational experience.
I found Lisa Pieraccini’s lecture to be wonderful! It was full of information, great visuals, and she engaged the audience!
Christopher Krebs was nothing short of brilliant. When students are captivated by Seneca and rhetoric you know the man is talented.
All the speakers were just wonderful. I wish I could attend their courses wherever they teach.
Every presenter had something different to offer and it showed that they had taken care with their presentations. One of HW best in 8 years.
Thank you for one of the most imaginative programs in Humanities West’s long history. It began with your personal introductions. As a liberal arts major who spent her working career outside of the humanities I savored your history, Patricia, of not becoming a secretary and continuing with your chosen field. George, you put the reality of our need to experience life beautifully into perspective. Then the program began and I felt like it was a door opening on a world where I want in. The Saint Michael Trio are splendid musicians. If they had just played those sonatas I would have been enthralled but I loved the exposition and then the slides tracking the events in the sonata. Normally, just hearing about key changes makes me start feeling out of my depth, but this was different. I got caught up in their enthusiasm and actually starting trying to understand the structure instead of merely passively listening.
Thank you and everyone in Humanities West for another wonderful program.
There are many ways to feed your intellectual curiosity in San Francisco, but Humanities West offers one of the finest, a curated selection of lectures and performances around a specific topic, covering social history, fine arts, music, politics, and philosophy of the arts.
Thank you for the wonderful Charles II Phoenix & Restoration London program. It was the perfect combination of education and entertainment and it might have been the best production yet. We are all getting very spoiled! See you at Bernini.
Humanities West has enriched our lives.
Thank you & HW for introducing us to Toledo! It’s our first European trip since we started attending Humanities West, & we were so inspired by the seminars that we made Toledo a top priority. Loved the sites in person!
Thanks for a fantastic program last night. Lynda and I both felt enlightened, uplifted and closer to Charlemagne. The Clerestory group was a treat with their wonderfully clear voices and brief explanations of their work.
